Working in partnership with customers’ on a global basis, we develop starches that meet specific needs for biodegradable packaging, cationic starches for fibreglass and dextrins for efficient separation in the mining industry.

Our Applications

Mining
Rise to the top. Penford supplies wheat and maize dextrins to the mining industry for use as a depressant for the removal of gangue materials such as carbonaceous waste, talc, silicates, etc.  Penford has the ability to tailor make specialty dextrins that will give higher levels of depression of gangue materials resulting in improved recoveries.

Fibreglass
Conductive to create the best products. Penford specialty modified starch is for use in fibreglass sizing. Specifically designed for use in the manufacture of circuit boards, the chemical modification imparts strength to the fibre and provides good adhesion due to the modification's chemical nature.

Packaging
We break the mould in packaging ideas. Penford's unique high amylose starches are used in a variety of biodegradable packaging materials.  Specifically designed for use in blown film manufacture, injection moulding and thermoforming, these materials have very high levels of biodegradability and meet the stringent requirements of the European Union.
